Hares Get Running:

After a stop start couple of months Harborough Hares were grateful to Ashby for their determination to get some games of rugby on. With Ashby's pitch unplayable, games with the hosts and Coalville were shifted to Ivanhoe College.

Hares first game was against a strong Ashby team. Neither side showed signs of rustiness and a good, hard and competitive match finished 3 - 3. Hares led three times but Ashby fought back each time they fell behind. Hares almost grabbed victory when they thought they had scored but alas two of the pitch marking cones had been disturbed earlier and they were just short of the line.

Second up was an Ashby development team who played with great spirit and tenacity but unfortunately were no match for the Hares who were really getting into their stride. Many tries scored, none conceded, the Hares on a roll and the Special One wanted more.

Coalville ventured forth and despite falling behind early on were able to disrupt the Hares rhythm. A disjointed first half finished one nil to the Hares. The second half was more open but some ineffective tackling by the Hares allowed Coalville to stay in touch without ever really threatening the outcome; 5-3 to the Hares in a finely refereed encounter.

Making the most of the opportunity of a playable surface Hares had a fourth game against a mixed Ashby squad and ran out 5-1 winners.
