An amazing team effort from the Warriors at the Nuneaton festival, despite often playing the best rugby the results didn't come.

Team – Dan V, James R, George C, Toby, Jake, Ethan H, Josh M, Joseph S, Dylan, Joseph G and Chris.

Warrior’s first game was against Melton Mowbray and was definitely a game were the best side didn’t win. The team demonstrated great team work in both attack and defence. Many good runs were had by Dan, Josh, James and Jake in the first half but none succeeded in crossing the whitewash. Melton however against the run of play scored one just before half time. In the second half Warriors found themselves let down by the ref and his inability to see the off side and therefore found themselves 0-4 at the final whistle despite good pressure and an aggressive run by Toby.

Vs Nuneaton B. Warriors started strongly despite losing the toss they turned over the ball quickly and showed their attacking and support skills (especially from Toby and Joseph G) but without scoring. In defence strong tackles by Ethan and Dan kept Nuneaton at bay for a while but just before half time they scored twice. After half time the tide had turned and Nuneaton crossed another 4 times despite amazing tackles from Josh, Jake and Dylan. The final score of 0-6 does not reflect the efforts and skills shown by the Harborough team.

Vs Vipers B. From the off the team were keen to show their results were not a true reflect of the games so far and despite an early try by Vipers a training park move was clearly seen – a fantastic driving maul by Joseph G and James just finished short of the try line. Following a second vipers score Warriors quickly responded with Dylan crossing the white wash. Just before half time Vipers scored their third. An amazing second half followed with Warriors fighting both for themselves and their team – many strong runs, and brilliant tackling by all stopped the opposition but also ended fruitless meaning the final score was 1-3.

Vs Broadstreet. Having given their all over the previous three matches this was an unfortunately order of play – Broadstreet were clearly the strongest in the league and eventual finalists. Despite this Warriors faced them with heads high and a battling spirit. Strong tackles from James , Joseph G, Joseph S, Josh , Ethan, Jake and Chris together with great support play by Toby and Dylan allowed both Dan (2) and George to score. It wasn’t enough to win but definitely gave the opposition some challenge. Final score 3-8

With the league concluded Market Harborough found themselves playing the other Market team – Bosworth in the play offs. As had become clearly evident this team were TOGETHER and definitely fighting for each other and their club. Again the running was strong and the tackles kept coming but despite good pressure Bosworth scored first. However Warriors came back with a quick response with Joseph S crossing for his first try of the day. Just before half time Bosworth breeched the defence and the drinks break saw the score 1-2. With tired and cold bodies the final half started unfortunately with Bosworth crossing the line but another piece of whole team work ended with James closing the gap to 2-3. The next few minutes showed what a team they were with Bosworth camped on the try line and Warrior bodies underneath holding up many concerted efforts- the defence held strong and if only the game had been slightly longer then who knows the outcome…..

What a team effort boys - well done today!
